Welcome to a new year of school!  I hope that your child had an enjoyable summer and is now anxious to begin second grade.  We will be doing many fun and exciting things this year!

 

Agendas

We will be using agenda planners again this year.  The agendas are a great way for parents/guardians to keep in touch with the activities going on in our classroom.  There is a space on the right-hand side of the agenda for short notes from either parents/guardians or the teacher.  There is a box to check if notes, book orders, lunch money, etc. are put in the pouch located in the front of the agenda. The student agendas will be sent home on a daily basis. Please check the agenda each night and initial the box on the right-hand side of the agenda.  Student agendas should be returned each school day.

 

Spelling

Words are introduced and written in the agenda planner on the first day of the week.  The spelling test is given on the last day of the week.  We will not have spelling tests on three-day weeks.  All of the spelling lists are on my website, which is so012.k12.sd.us.  You may also get to my website from the Marion School website, which is www.marion.k12.sd.us .  Our spelling words are also listed on www.spellingcity.com.  This is an excellent way to study your spelling words.

 

Show and Tell

Each student is assigned a day that he or she may bring something to show the class.  

 

Book orders

Book orders will be sent home about once a month.  Checks should be made out to “Scholastic Books.”

 

Parties

We will be having four parties this year.  Each student is asked to furnish something for one of the parties.
